The project emerged from the observation that technology, including television and cell phones, was interfering in the vital space that reading and writing deserve in children’s lives. This decline in educational interest was evident in the lack of dedication, even to school assignments, as children preferred playing on their mobile devices.
In response and through a collaborative effort, teachers and parents set the following objectives:
1. Foster Literacy: Create an environment that motivates students to engage in reading and writing through the creation of children’s stories.
2. Develop Creativity and Imagination: Use technology to encourage creativity and imagination, allowing children to express their ideas through audio stories and videos.
3. Stimulate Critical Thinking: Promote reader-focused, critical, and constructive thinking in students.
4. Generate Community Participation: Create inclusive spaces for the active participation of the entire educational community.
Based on these objectives, they designed a story contest for children, accompanied by their parents or guardians, to use technological devices such as cell phones, tablets, or computers to bring invented stories to life. Creative freedom and decision-making were in the hands of the students, fostering teamwork between parents and children.
Positive impact achieved:
– Active Participation: All students participated creatively, using various presentation forms (audio stories, written narratives, videos).
– Renewed Interest in Reading and Writing: A renewed interest in reading and writing was generated among students.
– Parental Involvement: Parents actively engaged in the holistic development of their children, recognizing the importance of collaborative work with teachers.
– Established Reading Habits: Reading habits were established throughout the year.
This project not only reignited the passion for reading and writing but also strengthened the connection between parents, teachers, and students in a more enriching educational environment. The innovative approach, using technology as an ally, proved effective in addressing the loss of interest and enhancing the active participation of students in the educational process.
